Junior Communications Analyst

Location: Remote with the option to work in person in Arlington, VA
FTE/Status: Part or Full Time

Position Summary:

The Junior Communications Analyst provides support in developing, implementing, and evaluating internal and external communication strategies for Q2IMPACT and clients. This role is responsible for assisting with content creation, research and data analysis, media monitoring, social media management, and reporting to ensure consistent and effective messaging that aligns with organizational objectives. Must be eligible to receive a US Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Communications Support:

  • Assist with the development and execution of communication plans and campaigns.
  • Support coordination of internal and external communication initiatives.
  • Provide logistical and administrative assistance for communication projects and events.

Content Development & Editing:

  • Draft, proofread, and edit communications (emails, social posts, newsletters, briefing notes, web copy, talking points).
  • Ensure content adheres to organizational style, tone, and branding guidelines.
  • Maintain and update communications tools, templates, and content calendars.

Social Media & Digital Engagement:

  • Support the daily management of corporate and/or client social media accounts (e.g., LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok as appropriate).
  • Draft and schedule social media posts aligned to campaign and content calendars.
  • Monitor trends, hashtags, and audience interactions to identify engagement opportunities.
  • Track and analyze social media metrics, preparing reports to demonstrate reach, engagement, and impact.
  • Conduct competitor scans and benchmarking to inform digital strategy.

Media & Stakeholder Support:

  • Monitor traditional and digital media coverage, compiling daily/weekly reports.
  • Conduct background research to support stakeholder engagement and media inquiries.
  • Maintain media lists, distribution channels, and stakeholder databases.

Research & Analysis:

  • Collect and analyze metrics on communications performance (web traffic, engagement, sentiment, reach).
  • Prepare reports and presentations on communications outcomes and insights.
  • Identify industry trends, best practices, and emerging communication tools.

Team & Administrative Support:

  • Assist in coordinating cross-team communication initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support to the communications team as needed.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and workflow improvements.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Political Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 0–2 years of experience in a communications, public affairs, or digital marketing role (internship or co-op experience acceptable
  • Analytical abilities for monitoring and evaluating communications and social media performance.
  • Basic knowledge of SEO, content strategy, and audience targeting an asset.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical experience with social media platforms and content scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer, or native tools).
  • Previous experience working the Department of State or Defense Clients
  • Familiarity with CMS or design tools (e.g., Canva, WordPress, Adobe Suite)
  • Active SECRET security clearance
